Ontario Excavac
Freshening Up a Hydrovac Leader’s Brand
Ontario Excavac (OE) is leading the way with environmentally conscious hydrovac processes. Hydro excavation uses pressurized water and an industrial strength vacuum to simultaneously excavate and evacuate soil. OE is the only hydrovac company in Canada with its very own, on premise, soil disposal and recycling facility. The goal is to recycle 100% of all hydrovac waste that is collected by their trucks.
But their impressive story as bold as it was, wasn’t being told. OE’s brand identity no longer reflected the progressive nature of the company. That’s when Barry Wood, CEO of Ontario Excavac, approached me for marketing and communications assistance.
As part of the strategic planning process, I helped Ontario Excavac clearly articulate their positioning in the marketplace and their value proposition for customers. Working with David Thorne, a leading graphic designer, I wrote a strategic creative brief to springboard David’s work on a new logo and visual identity to reflect OE’s refreshed brand.
Once the visual identity was in place, David and I worked on developing a streamlined, graphically progressive, easy to navigate website with important information that was customer benefit focused. This included putting a 24/7 emergency phone line and an easy quote option on the header of every page, as well as a comparative cost calculator to demonstrate the value of working with OE vs the competition.
